Elizabeth Pfeifer

Elizabeth treats individuals of all ages. She has experience in working with adolescents, children, adults, couples and families. She specializes in working with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, substance abuse, eating disorders, and stress management. Elizabeth also works with couples by treating them both together and individually, a treatment that is unique to Hellenic Therapy Center. She also has years of experience conducting group therapy that focuses on overcoming depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. In her groups, she teaches coping skills and provides psycho-education.

 

Elizabeth has a true passion for this work and is motivated to help others achieve happiness and become their best selves. She strives to create an open and non-judgmental environment where her clients feel respected and comfortable to share their experiences. Elizabeth believes that each person’s experience in therapy should be customized to their own needs and goals. Elizabeth utilizes a multi-faceted approach that includes exploration of one’s development and family of origin. It is through this exploration that clients can begin to understand learned behaviors that are impacting their present functioning.  Elizabeth believes that each client has unique experiences that contribute to their thoughts and feelings. She strives to help her clients better understand these cognitive and emotional experiences in order to develop the tools necessary for creating change, achieving their highest potential so that they may live a rich and meaningful life. Additionally, Elizabeth incorporates mindfulness techniques and relaxation exercises to help promote well-being and enhance joy in daily life.

 

Elizabeth is available for evening and weekend appointments.

Elizabeth is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The College of New Jersey, with special coursework on substance abuse treatment and marriage and family therapy.

 

Additionally, Elizabeth is a member of the American Counseling Association and New Jersey Counseling Association.
