Jayce Never Gives Up — A Story of Perseverance for All Ages

Some stories are written from imagination. Others are written from real life, love, and the moments that leave a lasting imprint on our hearts. Jayce Never Gives Up was inspired by my granddaughter Jayce and the determination she showed while learning to overcome challenges at such a young age.
I watched her attempt the monkey bars again and again. There were moments of frustration, tears, hesitation, and doubt — but there was also courage. No matter how difficult it felt, she kept trying. Watching her perseverance reminded me of something we often forget as adults: growth does not happen without struggle, and resilience is built in the moments when we choose not to give up.
While this is a children’s book, the message reaches far beyond childhood. Perseverance is something every person faces throughout life. Children encounter it while learning new skills and building confidence. Adults face it through loss, setbacks, personal struggles, career changes, parenting, relationships, and the everyday challenges that test our strength. No matter what our age, we all experience moments when we feel like giving up.
As a psychotherapist, author, mother and grandmother, I wanted to create a story that encourages both children and adults to keep moving forward even when life feels difficult. Jayce Never Gives Up is about resilience, self-belief, courage, and the understanding that setbacks do not define who we are. Sometimes the greatest growth comes from trying one more time after we thought we could not continue.
This book also reflects the mission behind my work through Hellenic Therapy Center and Against All Odds — helping individuals and families recognize their inner strength, heal through adversity, and find hope even during life’s most difficult moments. I believe perseverance is not about perfection; it is about continuing despite fear, disappointment, or obstacles.
I am proud to share that Jayce Never Gives Up is now available on Amazon. My hope is that this story inspires meaningful conversations within families, encourages children to believe in themselves, and reminds adults that it is never too late to keep growing, healing, and pushing forward.
Sometimes the smallest moments teach the greatest lessons. Jayce reminded me that courage is not found in never falling — it is found in getting back up, believing in yourself, and refusing to give up.
